Work packages
The work pacage is designed to strengthen the capacity of LIOS researchers by obtaining the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of design of selective inhibitors of metalloenzymes as well as to strengthen the networking of all partners with the University of Florence (UFI). To reach these objectives, LIOS researchers will visit the UFI, whereas Prof. Claudiu T. Supuran and Prof. Fabrizio Carta from the UFI are going to visit LIOS facilities and give a lecture on the topic “Metalloenzymes as drug-targets in the discovery of novel antibacterial drugs”.
This WP is designed to strengthen the capacity of LIOS researchers by obtaining the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of identification of bioactive natural products and their development to antibacterial leads and to strengthen the networking of all partners with University of Helsinki (UHEL). To reach these objectives, LIOS researchers will visit the UHEL, whereas Prof. Päivi Tammela and Prof. Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma from the UHEL are going to visit LIOS facilities and give a lecture on the topic “Identification of antibacterial leads from natural sources”.
This WP is designed to promote the exchange of experience and know-how among the project partners in biopharmaceuticals, antisense technology and antimicrobial peptides as well as to strengthen the networking of all partners with the University of Copenhagen (UCPH). To reach these objectives, LIOS researchers will visit the UCPH, whereas Prof. Fredrik Björkling, Prof. Peter E. Nielsen and Prof. Henrik Franzyk from the UCPH are going to visit LIOS facilities and give a lecture course on the topic “Biopharmaceuticals in antimicrobial drug discovery”.
This WP is designed to promote the exchange of experience and know-how among the project partners in the field of biofilms for the development of new antibacterial drugs as well as to strengthen the networking of all partners with the University of Antwerp (UA). To reach these objectives, LIOS researchers will visit the UA, whereas Prof. Paul Cos and Prof. Koen Augustyns from the UA are going to visit LIOS facilities and give a lecture on biofilms to develop new antibacterial drugs.
This WP is designed to enhance scientific capacity and to raise research profiles of early stage researchers on advanced development of antibacterial drug design as well as to strengthen the long-lasting scientific collaboration between LIOS and project partners. To fulfill this task, it is planned to organize a scientific seminar, a virtual training, a summer school and 2 trainings on transferable skills as well as to ensure the participation of early stage researchers in conferences, symposia, congresses and other events targeting career development.
This WP is designed to promote SPRINGBOARD within the scientific community of Europe, to exploit SPRINGBOARD results to the industry sector and other stakeholders as well as to provide the information for society on actuality of development of new antibacterial agents.
The objectives of this WP are 1) to set up the appropriate monitoring, coordination and communication procedures, in order to ensure that project is implemented in a timely and cost effective manner in accordance with applicable EC guidelines and national legislation rules. 2) to ensure that EC financial and administrative procedures are respected and reports and cost statements are provided in time. 3) to develop of strategy for sustainability of the platform of excellence beyond the SPRINGBOARD project.
